NASPO is committed to giving back and we are pleased to announce the Boys and Girls Clubs of America as our 2021 REACH NASPO Cares recipient.
The Boys and Girls Club is a national organization built of local chapters that provide after-school programs for school-age kids. They provide a safe place for kids to participate in programs to help them learn and develop skills to lead a successful, healthy lifestyle.
Programs include:
- Sports and Recreation
- Education
- Arts
- Health and Wellness
- Workforce Readiness
- Character and Leadership
During this last year, with the cancellation of in-person classes, families with children needed to find childcare and adjust to learning from home. The Boys and Girls Club has provided critical support by:
- Caring for children of first responders, military families, healthcare workers, medical staff and others who provide essential support to their communities.
- Helping reduce food insecurity by distributing food, bottled water and other necessary supplies.
- Providing virtual programming to helping kids fill educational gaps with digital resources to learn, create, play and develop valuable skills.
- Crafting and implementing contingency plans to meet community needs, including when/how to reopen.
